Who has done this. I put new levers on today and had to do it so the the clutch level would work.

I put new levers on and didn't have to do anything with any safety switches.

What levers did you install?

What? Changing the lever made the switch work? Was the switch plug just loose? Save lever you can always use it in a pinch. Only time my craps out is when I knock it off doing something I shouldn't.

The new lever did not have the ability to move the switch so I had to bypass the switch to get the bike to start. I just spliced the switch wires together.

Me too. Spliced 'em and capped 'em off. The switch failed and I couldn't start the bike.

I've heard some people claim that this affects performance, because the bike thinks there's something wrong and switches to a "limp-home" mode.

I haven't noticed anything different performance wise.
