I am just about done building my 196cc push trailer.

I have hit a top speed of 50.2mph. It is a single speed and geared like only having third gear on a motorcycle. I pedal it from 0-10mph then slip the clutch from 10-20mph. At 20mph clutch is fully engaged and I haul.

Lots of fun. I often choose to ride this over my SV.

How do you keep it from pushing you when you need to stop?

Looks like a centrifugal clutch is in order.
There is a throttle on the handle. I have it up on blocks so the wheel would spin. When it is on the ground the wheel is not pushing the bike forward.

Maybe the clutch needs some lube, it only has 85 miles on it.

Did you dream that up or did someone else?

I've been contemplating buying one of these for my spare Trek frame:

I first built one like this one my old Gary fisher frame. That is what got me started. I have actually heard bad things from boygofast ebay vender.

The kit you talk about is pretty cheap ~$130. The parts are very cheap and tend to break a lot. I had to repair mine a lot. All of the hardware is so cheap and will break so you need to replace it all with grade 8 hardware. You MUST use locktite on everything... lots of vibration with this engine and will rattle every bolt loose.

It was a fun kit, but just be prepared to do lots of work on it. Most people say the engine explodes before 3k-5k miles.

The main problem is that they are geared to go 30-35mph at redline... if you are riding them in traffic you NEED to be going that fast so most people are constantly stressing their engines to the max.

There is a guy http://www.sickbikeparts.com/ that makes essential has a 6 speed transmission kit which would make these engines a lot better and last a lot longer.

Would you then recommend a better supplier? I'm all about tinkering, but I don't like fixing things that shouldn't be broken...
