I need either the replacement for the bracket shown in the photos or a complete center stand kit from SW-Motech. Or other center stand kit.
Back story:
I purchased the German-made SW-Motech center stand kit in 2016 for my 2002 SV650S.
I was very pleased with the center stand kit until two Saturdays ago when the right bracket failed and the center stand started dragging on the ground. Fortunately that happened as I was taking it out of the parking garage. I removed the center stand.
My guess the bracket failure is due to the bike being stored on its center stand for 6 to 7 months over the past 5 winters (I live in Chicago) with the tension on the bracket. The spring is VERY strong -- it took "2 men and a boy" to stretch and attach it to the bracket and stand.
I contacted the SW-Motech distributor, Twisted Throttle (very nice, helpful people) and was told the company no longer makes the kit for the Gen 1 SV650 but they will contact the manufacturer to see if the replacement bracket is available or if any kits may be hidden among other boxes. I was told 5 to 7 weeks if available. I told them I'd also buy the complete center stand kit if one shows up.
So, does anyone know of other manufacturers of center stand kits for the Gen 1 SV650?
Or anyone who had a complete used center stand kit (such as one taken off for track days, or a crashed bike being parted out.
If all else fails, I can take the bike to a local high-end vintage car restoration shop and either have the bracket repaired and strengthened (as I mentioned, the return spring is REALLY strong) or, have the shop machine a new and stronger bracket - my guess $$$.
