Besides asking if the guy weelied alot, is there a way to detect if a bike was ever wheelied for long periods and was starved of oil?

look at front wheel bearings and head bearing

my original front wheel was bent slightly when I replaced it at 115k with a wheel I got off ebay from an 01 with 5k miles, the bearing as are already shot, I suspect the bike it came off was wheelied a lot

I apologize for my noobiness, but how and what do i look for/at to check the front wheel bearing? is this something I can see without removing the wheel?

you should just ask the seller, "how easy does it wheelie?" if he gets enthusiastic and says way too easy, etc... then say thanks anyway and dip out. if he says i don't know, i've never tried then you say...i'll take it
