hmmmmm...bobber?
Doug...you see all that airspace that I'm seeing under that tail? I don't know about you but I'm smelling an underseat exhaust!
I think shotgun exhausts/dual highmounts would look better than a straight undertail.
looks good. can't wait to see how it turns out
Looks good Doug. Is that subframe something you could produce for the 650 or would there be a difference? I might be interested in it for my own bike.

Nope, cans are staying as they are. If I were to upgrade the exhaust, it would be the Yosh 2-1 full system.

Thanks.

Too much work to offer up as a standard item. I could make one, but would have to sell for what other manufactures are already selling racing subframes for.
D**N, I have had my 03 1000 for less than 5 months , did some mods already... now you are making me rethink.. might have to make some more changes, but I'll wait to see the final outcome. Plus I want to upgrade the front forks to an 04-05 GSXR front end first.
Is that seat angle comfortable? Looks like a ball buster to me, or am I just being overprotective, so to speak?
looks great so far doug.
Thanks Dan.

It just looks high in that last pic...cause the tank is not on there, nor the exhaust hangers. Its just about the same height as the stock tail was.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Dougz your subframe is looking very well done. You're right about it being alot of work :confused2:
yeah, it is. I had to use square tubing since I do not have a bender for round tubing. I milled all four ends to half go into the square tubing, for a solid mounting point for the subframe bolts...to which I replaced all since from the factory, they are cheap hollow ones..no idea why they did that. they are M10 X 1.25....was not easy to find ones I could use for those and still have grade 8 strength.

I still have to build the inside tray, and do some minor body work....before painting both the bodywork and subframe itself.
Pardon my stupidity, but what is the tail off from ? (Looks good BTW)

Thanks and 06 gsxr 600/750
What seat will you use?
GSXR seat that you see on there...already recovered by DZC. :D

IMO, you have to use the seat that goes with the tail section..at least for these GSXR style tails....from the factory the seat really is a perfect match for the tails.

I agree. So are you just gonna fab up some tabs for it to bolt on to? And are you planning on putting any side covers on that?
Looks good Doug!
Rustoleum "Aluminum" (7713) is a pretty close match to stock silver.

Let me know if you need any mounts or brackets welded.

Thanks for the info my friend. I will check that paint out.

Do you have ability to weld aluminum??

I got this welded by a guy here at work. he did good, but I'd still like to be able to weld aluminum myself.
