Frame sliders #1, then in no particular order...Fender eliminator, shock, forks, tires, seat. Those are the basics.
You can go for a slip on or full exhaust too. that should be a good start- Fin.

Sliders FTW. R&G sliders if you don't want to hack up your fairings. Or the motosliders if they ever have the no-cut ones they're coming up with but who knows. if its your first bike I would do sliders and gear and that's about it to begin with. You can do cosmetic stuff if you have money to burn like exhaust/windscreen/fender elim./etc. but I would say that the tires/suspension are adequate to get started on.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I currently have a 1983 Suzuki GR650 Tempter (made only one year) and the rear brake broke this past summer, so it was time for a new bike. I've been lerking around this forum for some time and I like all of the knowledgable people on here.

As for your replies, I have a Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket that I wear everytime I ride (no matter how hot it is) and Nitro sport boots. I think that I have the gear covered.

I hear that the Motosliders are a good set of frame sliders. I really don't want to hack up my new bike. What about the TPS / TRE mods I see on this forum. Should they be done.

As I get used to the bike I'm sure that I will change things.

Once again, thanks for the replies. Any more information, keep it coming

Do the R&G's FIRST!!

They're the best and they work. I've proven them once when I had 2 deer take me down hard! 60 feet of slide! Only cosmetic issues which were corrected right away.

Then;
Suspension, Suspension, Suspension. I couldn't believe the difference!

a jacket and boots hardly qualifies as having the gear covered. If you can afford a brand new bike you can afford good gear to protect your whole body but hey it is your body and you can do what you want. I'm just making suggestions.

For the bike, get some sliders and then just get used to the bike before you start changing too much.

From a negotiating point, Suzuki raised the prices (MSRP) across the board 2 weeks ago. ???
A 09 SV650s went from $6999 to $7499. My local dealer is holding the price @ $6899 for me.
But it looks like I'll be picking up a 04 tonight instead. :hug:
