The bike has a lot more poer from idle all the way through the rev range compared to my 2005 N model.

Took off the tank no snorkle.

Airbox - Has this removed

Guessing is the PAIR removal???
On the engine

Found this, guessing its the TRE mod.

So are these worth it?

Jap, removed PAIR System. Also, the resistor in 3rd pic belongs to PAIR removal, not TRE I think.

But removing PAIR does not increase performance ??? Do you drive both bikes one after another?
I ride both back and for both have slip on exhausts and stock filters. His had the snorkle removed, I took mine out and it feels a little stronger but not to the same effect.
Afaik, there is no simple mod that increases performance as you described..
Maybe other mods, contact the seller? Maybe cam swap or something else..
can't really contact the seller, any more I bought it as a basket engine in the frame but lights and stuff weren't hooked up.

Guess I will be swapping parts til then to find out. I doubt the cam swap only cause its a 2nd gen and from what other racers tell me the gains aren't significant.

Maybe its to be blamed on the 2003 being the Basterd of the SV family
AHHHHHHHHHH!. I can even read this to know what you are even asking.

+1

PAIR removal and resistor mod.
Maybe it isn't faster, your bike is just slower...

Or maybe it has a different set of sprockets on it?? That could change how it feels quite a bit.
a coworker when in school in arizona had the option to dyno his bike. so he did. then pulled the snorkel off the airbox. and dynoed it again. he said there was about a 2-3 hp gain.
Are you sure the sprockets are the same on each?
Maybe its to be credited to the 2003 being the fastest of the SV family.
I know the two models came with different sprockets but the difference is pretty dramatic, I will verify that tonight. The bike is tore down right now for "other" work and my 05' is my daily beater so the pumpkin sits all tired broken with 4300 miles on it while the 05 approaches 20K

Looking into swapping controllers to see about a map and maybe a tre for the 05.

+1. What color are the two bikes? If it's an '03 _and_ copper... well, then mystery solved.
nah I have a yellow 05' those are way faster.

The copper 03' are slower since copper fell off on the price LOL.

I thought the purpose of this post was to try & find out why your 05 was slower than your 03?

Crap, guess your right, well the yellow adds 15 hypothetical HP.
maybe velocity stacks?
Digressive suspension? It just makes you feel faster though.
I should say this as far as I know the bike has Gold Valves, the owner bought it from a female friend that wrecked it. He was a fabricator and a racer 3rd or 4th SV but was getting out of it.

Going to pull parts off it tonight to finish it up get it inspected then really ride it side to side.

BTW V9 thats where your bodywork came from, I paid 2900 for it. clean title and three boxes of parts, it does have a little tank damage though.
