How easy is it to de restrict ?
Here in Australia the lams system provides learner riders on power restrictions to ride biger bikes that have electronic power restricters i believe its an ecu ?
I am looking at a 2018 sv650 lams model as there seems to be no full power versions available and after Googling and checking eBay i came across an ecu from an older model 2003 second hand .
Can anyone point me in the right direction ie are they available and if so is it an easy thing to do myself or should I get a bike shop to install

Welcome to the Forum!:)

2003 ECU will not work in your bike....sorry. You could install an ECU from a non-restricted model of the same generation if you can find one, or look into Woolich Racing tuning where you can remove the restrictions.

+1 for Woolich. On the 2018 model it's an easy install for the on-bike harness (1 pin in the ECU plug and then just the SDS plug.) There is a mapshare map you can write to the ECU that will remove the STP restrictions and change up the fuelling a bit.
