Hey guys, I'm planning a winter bike trip to Texas. My friend and I would trailer our bikes from Canada to Texas and ride around there for a couple days. We chose Texas cuz we have a friend down there. But is the weather good enough to ride in around February or March? Also, what are the roads like down there? Any good suggestions in around the Jacksonville area??

So any input would be appreciated. If you know the temperatures that time of year, I'd be interested in knowing that too. As well as anything else you think I should know.
Thanks folks!

February is usually our coldest month and if we do get an ice storm, it's usually in Jan. or Feb. However, it's been about four years since we last had one and our coldest temperature is probably nothing for you Canadians. Here's a link for the average weather in Jan/Feb.

If you get the chance, ride down to the Kerrville/Boerne area. Beautiful scenery and and arguably the best twisties in Texas. But it might be a little too far away if y'all will be staying in the Jacksonville area.
I hope you have a fun trip. ;D

Hill country and Big bend are the must see. Also a weekend night out in Austin on 6th street. There is a Texas Motorcycle magizen w/ some good rides. I will try to find the last issue and its time to go look for a new one (one every few months). While in the Hill country you must stop a Rudy's BBQ worlds worest BBQ  http://www.rudys.com/index.html.

Love. Rudy's.

Negative on 6th street. Too many college kiddies there. I prefer 5th street. I think it's 5th street.

I second that - I'm a college kid and I still would rather go to a more civilized plaze like 5th street. Gotta watch out for gold diggers though ;) It tends to be a classier place.

Rudy's ROCKS! We have one here in College Station. In fact, I think I'm going to head over there for dinner! haha nah nah nah!
