As long as you have working lights and blinkers, you should be good to go. Even if you need an inspection, the inspectors are not noting fender eliminators per se, just that you have properly working and clearly visible lights and blinkers.
It kept the bike "DOT" approved. You won't get pull over on this. At least in NY. It meets all the requirements. It also allowed me to modify my turn signals.. Here is what it looked like when I replaced them a few years ago. Note I still had the stock tires. But I replaced that after I did the FE. Here:
I had a FE on mine when I bought it. But it still looked bad to me. So I removed everything and made my own brackets for the blinkers. They're just little 'L' brackets that mount where the fender does and the come out at the edge of the undertail. I’d like a bit better front braking performance out of my SV. The bike is ABS-equipped, and I know the extra plumbing is always going to reduce braking feel, but I am motivated to see what improvements I can make, particularly to reduce lever effort.
One of the standard upgrades that gets made...
Hey guys, making progress on the track build but I've hit a brick wall with the wiring harness. As far as 06 to 07, the harness is different, specifically the ECU. The 1st Gen has 1 plug in to the ECU, whereas the 2nd Gen has 2 plug ins at the ECU. Actually, working on the 2nd wiring harness...
