I have a clean, apparently low-mileage SV1000 shock which I picked up on e-bay for about $12 plus shipping. Has anyone done this swap successfully?
I see everything from ZX-6 shocks to 'Busa shocks, but nothing about the SV1000 shock. I would imagine this is because the SV1000 is not nearly as common as the other bikes. The center-center appears to be the same, it looks like I'll have to do some battery box surgery though. Thanks for any input! (P.S my bike is a '06 naked.)

I just got my race tech gold valves and springs, maybe I'll install the SV1000 shock at the same time.

It's gotta be better than my stock shock with almost 48k miles.

Done it. It's similar to a GSXR swap on the battery box. But the SV1K shock is not supposed to be as good as a GSXR.

I did it cause I got a GSXR shock for my SV1k and put the SV1k shock in my 650

Yeah, I've done it. I got the SV1K shock for free and swapped it out that evening. I didn't have to do any mods to my battery box, but I also have an 03 so my subframe is higher. Over the stock shock it is a good improvement but like others said, the GSXR should do better.
