i have seen a few different idea on here so I thought i would share my install

the bottom of the faring on the S model has a nice little spot to put the opener, I used 3M double sided tape with a zip tie to make sure it stayed in place

I found a momentary switch at radio shack to put in the stock hole in the fairing, I did have to enlarge the hole slightly for this button since it has a 1/2 inch hole requirement

complete

i used to have a small remote (the one on the left) that worked well on my key ring but it stopped working so i bought the newer version (on the left) but it didn't have a very good range and the buttons were hard to hit with gloves on.

looks good.. another trick I've seen is to put the remote in the headlight bucket and run wires to the high beam or pass switch to activate it.

That is a good idea. I may just do that.

On the first gens you can stick a little button on the right side controls, but on the 2nd gens that's where the hazard lights switch is.

I was thinking about doing mine in the same place as the o.p. but now that high beam thing is sounding tempting.

Does anyone know of anybody that has done it?

I'm going to try this out in the spring here. Looks like it should work well!
Drinkbrew, looks like a good spot! I just personally want something less obvious so not anyone could just see the garage remote if it should ever get taken.
you reallly can't see the remote unless your looking for it and I realized after i did it I should have bought a solid black button lol. I don't worry too much about it being taken since it is rarely left out in the open, 95% of the time it's either in the garage or right outside my work were i can see it.

Here's how I had my opener rigged on my R1.

solderd into the opener and tucked into the trunk. Worked perfectly!

Going to have to do something similar to the SV soon, but can't put it in the same spot because of the bars. Time to get creative :)
