Looking to overhaul the suspension on my 2019 SV650X. Right now I have Ohlins cartridges on backorder and expected to ship in april, but im still considering options for a shock. So far it seems a Penske double clicker will be the best for me - high quality and adjustable. However, im not sure whether I should go for a remote reservoir or one that is attached to the shock - I think Ive read that the attached variant wont fit with the ABS in the way?

Anyways - anyone who has experience with this, im looking for advice on how to proceed. Hoping to have a brand new feeling bike just in time for bike weather! Thanks in advance.

There's a few options, Penske makes a good shock, there's a couple of K-Tech options, I went with the Razor. Cogent Dynamics has one Cogent Dynamics Garage Sale - Cogent Dynamics
that was used for development. They make good shocks, the owner used to work for Ohlins, I have one on KLR650 and very happy with it. If you want a reservoir shock the K-Tech Razor works well, mine developed a leaking seal within 1k miles, they fixed quickly and no problems since.

Nitron do a range of three shocks for your bike. I have the NTR3 in my race bike but the NTR2 (double cllicker) would be fine for the street.

YSS which is a massive Thai company also have three products for the X model SV. I have a triple clicker in my Aprilia 660 and it's a huge improvement over the stock rear shock.

I dont know what the distribution/dealer network is like in the US for these two brands but I was able to purchase them easily in here New Zealand.
