I'm using the plug caps off these here in the UK on my Gen1 1999,

I've not swapped the coils in as my originals are still working fine but I got them just in case.

On a previous forum a lot of users have bought ,"Caltric " gear in the US and it's been fine,

eBay USA SV coils.

I've tested these cheap plug caps and they work fine.

Looks like NGK discontinued their plug cap production in the US at least. I'm going to have to go with a generic cap.

Is 3 Ohm coils correct for the SV CDI?

Way too expensive for me and for something as simple as a CDI coil :/

 

I converted my SK5 to stick coils (coil on plug).
Easy to do, remove coils leads and caps and replace with GSXR/Hayabusa stick coils and coil connectors. Got mine from Aliexpress.

I agree, but the thing that suffers is consistent quality with cheap parts. QC is expensive and QA is good in theory but worse in practice and also expensive. Its hit and miss, you get a good coil, it will last forever, you get an abnormality and its sh*t. Thus is the life of cheap parts. These coils are $38 shipped to my door. There is probably zero quality checks going on for that price point.
