I put JB Weld on the tank where the pinhole leaks were at. I will let it cure for a couple of days.

I cut a spacer using the metal sleeve that was on the shock rubber that I had to remove to install them. The spacer goes on the left side where the tank bolts on the rear. There was an extra locknut that was used as a spacer, but I am replacing the bolts so the .350 spacer I cut will work!

12-7-22 Drove to Hobby Lobby to get some paint...

I have a red Nomad and the Firebrd is also red, so I decided to paint the Willy's green!

I glued the hoods of the Nomad and the Willy's onto their bodies.

Going to find a plastic motor for the Nomad!

Had to blow air to get that chrome washer that I dropped into the bike out!

Bolted the tank on, and it took me a while to get the crossover hose clamps connected with the coil bolts right there!

12-14-22 Going to replace the fork oil...

Where is the oil?

Removed the drain plugs and depressed the forks to get the oil out, yea I made a mess. The paper there is a second round, the first round was covered and had to wipe it up. I eventually sprayed degreaser and hosed the concrete and bricks off, washing that all the way to the street!
Have to see if there is a YouTube video on filling the forks...

12-15-22 This is how the shop manual shows refilling the fork with oil...

Wow do I have to do that?!

After looking on a forum they mention to use something like this, will have to get a piece of clear tubing to run into the fork opening.

Got a pic of snow on the mountains when I was getting chrome bolts for the fork top and...

Getting a longer screw for the throttle adjustment so it will actually work!

12-16-22 Well I am going to see if I can follow the shop manual for putting oil in the forks...

Yea this is not working, so found a video and...

Have to remove the fork caps and take the weight off the front end for the springs. And look, he has a 1958 tank!

12-19-22 I had to order a 1 3/8" socket to remove the top fork cover, in the meantime...

I replaced the single tube fluorescent light to a single light, and I bought a Quad Burst light a while back. You buy one, get one free so they say. I bought it for the attic light and the extra light I put in the garage. And it is bright!

12-27-22 Yay, I got the 1 3/8" socket finally...

Oh man I didn't check the depth of the socket cuz the fork cap is tall! Wow it just fits! It started to rain so I put the bike in the garage for now.

12-28-22 I was on eBay and bought this...

A Franklin Mint 1957 Sportster! The one I bought was used for $50, and they are priced up to $250 dollars!

It got a little banged up, it is used so I do not know if the pieces came off before it was shipped, but I can glue it back together. Xmas present to myself!

Got the weight off of the forks so the cap came off easy!

While the fork caps are off, I can polish the risers above the triple tree!

I did pull the springs out like the YouTube video said.

6 oz. That went well, tightened the fork caps and the filler bolt that doesn't work at all!

Time to get the front brakes going. I did not do this initially, so I am bleeding the master cylinder per instructions.

And one of the prongs on the front brake sensor broke off?! I thought I could solder it back on but not enough there, so I have to get another one!

1-4-22 Went to Sporty Parts to get the front brake switch...

The shop manual doesn't show the part, but the parts manual has everything in it!

Got the part that I need, will put that in tomorrow!

1-5-23 Going to replace the brake switch that is in the master cylinder...

Used Superzilla and small, long nose vise grips to get it out.

Got it in and bolted the master cylinder to the handlebars, then put the bike back into the garage cuz a dark cloud started to make rain drops!

How was the fit? Definitely a different sensor!

It fit fine, that black plastic in the middle was great because you can turn it in holding the plastic. The original just had the two prongs sticking out!

1-15-22 Today didn't start raining until 4-ish, watched football and started to repair the 1957 Sportster model...

Gluing the kickstart pedal back on!
