75% of the time when loading a new page it sits for 10-20 seconds displaying nothing but the SVRider banner. In the progress bar it either reads "waiting for ads.verticalscope.com" or "transferring data from google-analytics.com"

Any ideas?

use your localhost file to route them to a dead end. this didn't work pre verticalscope because the ads came from the svrider domain but it should now. you could do the same thing with google analytics but that has been on the site since long before verticalscope; presumably since rob was negotiating the sale - maybe a year.
