So there I am minding my own business when my colleague yells, "Look at that plane!" I stand up to see a 747 on a direct path at eye level with me and a fighter jet hot on its tail.

Gulliamo left the building.

So... how was your day?

Saw this on the news this morning. Sounds like it was a bad idea, but even worse that they didn't tell anybody they were going to do it.

When you live and work in a small bubble surrounded by yes men, it's amazing what can seem OK.

I don't think the guy who planned it should be fired, but he should definitely have to take some common sense classes.

Getty Images Attention News readers: Please copy this photo to craft your own doctored Air Force One photo. And see what we made below.

Daily News photo illustration (Getty/News) We doctored this shot of Mayor Bloomberg marching in a St. Patrick's Day parade so the sleek blue-and-white jet seemingly heads to the mayor's outstretched hand.

Daily News photo illustration (Getty/News) A second mock-up captures Air Force One inside a whirling Hula Hoop on a beautiful day in Central Park.

Memo to the White House: Not only was flying a Presidential jet for a photo-op Monday over downtown Manhattan in bad taste – it was unnecessary.
Anyone in the White House ever hear of Photoshop?
You'd think the administration would've been tech-savvy enough to realize the merits of the computer software program – what with its constant Internet spin doctoring and the President's notorious BlackBerry infatuation.
The cost of flying one of Obama's official planes – a pimped-out Boeing 747 – along with a F-16 jet over the city cost upwards of $300,000 in taxpayer dollars.
In comparison, the latest deluxe version of Adobe Photoshop "CS4 Extended" costs $999.
So the White House wanted shots of the presidential plane with the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Ground Zero? With some stock images, few minutes and a couple of clicks of a mouse, a White House staffer could've placed the jet in front of just about any New York landmark.
We should know. We did just that. [Ahem, see photos to the right.]
But we can't be the only ones with a flair for Photoshopping. Think you can do better? Be our guest.
Here's how:
1: Copy the Air Force one photo provided at the top of this story.
2: Graft it onto your favorite family snapshot or New York City photo.
3: Upload it directly to our Web site by clicking below in the "Your NewYork" section. Choose the category: Photoshop planes.
And finally, check back tomorrow to see the results.

We asked readers to dream up doctored landscapes for the President's Air Force One – and wow, did they ever deliver!
On Monday, the Presidential jet and an F-16 fighter plane buzzed over lower Manhattan for a photo-op of the First Plane with New York City landmarks.
The stunt sparked fears of terror attacks and cost hundred of thousands of dollars.
We suggested the White House staffers could've gotten better results – for a lot less money – from the comforts of their own D.C. offices using a program like Photoshop.
And YOU proved us right.
We've gotten nearly 200 reader photo submissions – and according to your photos – President Barack Obama's Boeing 747 sure gets around.
Some of you put the plane in New York City – just like the Administration wanted.
It's visited Central Park, made an appearance at the New York marathon and even traveled back in time to visit the Brooklyn Bridge of yore.
Some of you gave it intergalactic powers.
It's traveled to the moon and Luke Skywalker's home planet of Tatooine.
And it even snagged a cameos in a James Bond flick and flew by King Kong.
We say these photos are better than any official shots, so please keep them coming. [For the plane photo to get started, click here.]
Follow these instructions to upload your entry, and to see the handiwork of your fellow New Yorkers.
Here's how:
1: Copy the Air Force one photo provided at the top of this story.
