My ignition has been damage from someone trying to steal it while I was out of town. Locksmith won't work. 😤😤😤😤

Man, I tried to turn mine on without the key, but I was afraid to fry the ECU. In order to do that, you should take a look in the electrical diagram in the service manual, or contact an experienced mechanic. Good luck.

A new ignition and matching tank and tail keyset is $50 on ebay or amazon. just search sfv650 ignition. You'll need a T40 security torqs bit (sometimes labeled as TT40) to loosen the two bolts.( lowes or HD sells the loose for $5). unplug the connector and swap in the new one. Now you have new keys. The tank lid swap is pretty straight forward. the seat latch can be a bit tricky. Good luck.

How can a locksmith make you a new key without having the existing key for reference to copy? Or am i missing something?
It's not that hard if you can pull the cylinder.

The wafers are used to make an impression on a blank and then they cut the slots where those impressions are.
