Clogged gas cap vent? When it happens, try opening the gas cap.

 

Thanks for replying, took gas cap off and checked vent hose and it is not obstructed.

 

Try some fuel injector cleaner in the tank and give it a good blast out ?

 

Could it be my ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor) is defective? What makes me suspect this is because when I let it sit for a few minutes with engine off, and then restart it , it idles fine, but will act up again once riding for a while.

 

Do you know where the ect is located for future ref?
Im on a learning curve is why i politely enquire of you.

 

It's located between the throttle bodies in the thermostat housing, under the gas tank and air filter.

 

Gotcha i think,
the green plug where the coolant runs through the unit sitting between both cylinders?

 

I would think that something electronic/ignition-based might be heating up and breaking down, but that would affect it whether it was idling or not.
