I recently purchased a wrecked 2007 SV650S from copart. The bike never came with the rider seat, as the tank and rear subframe were pretty messed up...so I could never get a reference for how it installs.

I repaced the tank with one from an SV1000 (07). The seat I purchased is from an 07 SV650.

The problem, however, is that the plastic tabs from the seat dont seat nicely along the subframe. There seems to be about a 1/2"-3/4" gap on each side between the plastic tabs and the subframe.

If I cheat the gap with spacers, there is then a 1/2" gap between the seat and the tank.

Am I missing something? I even checked bikebandit.com for the exploded view diagram.

you have a 2003 only seat and a 2004+ subframe. sell the 03, buy an 04+ seat. 03 seats go for almost double what the 04+ sell for
same with the fairing side triangles, you'll need the 2004+ ones
or you could make up some spacers/brackets but that wouldn't be particularly sturdy.
