New 2003 SVS Owner wanting to Mod bars

Hi all,
I just bought a 2003 SV650S for my first bike and for a great price. But as iv been riding it more and more im uncomfortable wrist hands hurt. Looking to get more upright with less pressure on my arms. Im decent with tools and have moded allot of sleds so im hoping to do it myself. im not looking to fab stuff so im interested in bolt on mods. Any help with any pics would be great.

Thanks

Welcome to SVRider.

You can get these: https://www.svracingparts.com/store/...isers-p3033530

or

You can strengthen your back, abs, and thighs, and ride (properly) without putting strain on your wrists.

There should not be any weight on your wrists when riding properly, therefore no pain. Alot of people, especially newer riders, do this. Just because the riding position hunches you over doesn't mean you should put weight on your wrists. It is the natural thing to do, but its wrong. (Like many other things when it comes to riding a motorcycle.)

bar risers, handlebar conversions, etc will help, but its a band-aid masking the real issue.

Re: New 2003 SVS Owner wanting to Mod bars

Be advised though, you can only raise the bars so much before you will need longer cables. From what I've heard the 2.5" should be fine with the stock S cables. The 3.5" will need N cables. I've heard you can install the 3.5" an inch lower on the forks and make the S cables work if you want the risers now and get longer cables later.

EDIT: Also I believe the stock S bars already have about an inch of rise, so don't expect much.

Should have bought the "N" model like the rest of us old farts!

Because of the fairing, the height of the bars on the "S" model is going to be somewhat limited compared to the "N".
