Clutch lever switch

Hello friends,
I have a problem with the SV650 2001.
The problem is that when I press the clutch lever engine will not start ... regardless of whether or not in gear or neutral.
When you release the clutch lever engine starts even in gear.

Side-stand switch is working properly.

Dumbest thing I've tried is to cross the wires ... even though I knew it was a desperate attempt. :disappointed:

So, any help is appreciated....Thanx

This issue was just covered for another member who owns a 2nd gen SV. He bought the correct part to replace a broken clutch switch, but experienced the same issue you are having. It turns out that the new switch could be installed "either" way into the clutch perch. One way the switch worked in reverse as does yours, and the other way works correctly. The 1gen and 2nd gen use switches with two different part #s.

So, I don't know if the 1gen switch can be reversed in the perch or your switch has just shorted out and has reversed its function. You can try to reverse the switch or perhaps you just need to buy a new switch. Switching wires will not affect the action, it's the switch itself which determines the function.

Thank you for your answers.
Since the motorcycle is currently in the make-up phase :), as soon as I put the tank on it I'll try to play with the switch, but I'll also try to see if there any visible irregularities.

I will report back my results, so maybe this can help other members.

@drinkbrew:Why should I be offended,it's pazzo's mistake! :)
I can really easy fix it with a knive and a bit of glue.
All it needs to be done is having the switch activating plastic lever a bit positioned to the left,while lever is at 1-4 positions.So with a knife you take eg 0.5mm of the plastic lever(its left side) and you put 0.5mm glue on its right side.

I'm just bored doing this,It's easier to use positions 5 or 6 to start the bike and once started you go back to 1-4 if you like, no big deal.

@RΜΑΝ:yes,you probably right,it seems they just miscalculated the hole's position for the SV(or same spec) clutch levers.
