Re: Gen 2 Helmet Holders - Flawed Design?

I use a cheap gun lock. I run it around the chin bar, so that they can't just cut the strap and take the helmet (which I've heard of happening, even though it makes the helmet useless). Not that it's *that* hard to cut a cable lock, but it's harder than the strap.

I used to keep a long bicycle cable lock with the bike so I could also lock my jacket to the bike by feeding it through the sleeves and through the chinbar of my helmet.

OK, I got it. It is not overpriced, but it is definitely overbuilt.
The body of the slip is six inches long and made from heavy, high quality metal.
I just have to find a place to hang it

Re: Gen 2 Helmet Holders - Flawed Design?

Turns out I was overloading the GIVI rack which caused the attachment at the helmet holder to break - had nothing to do with the design of the fairing! Silly me!

Fun fact: some GIVI racks can only hold 15 pounds.

Live and learn.

Re: Gen 2 Helmet Holders - Flawed Design?

You use a case on it, or just as a tray?

I don't have any fancy racks/cases, I just have a cheap cargo net that has plastic hooks that I attach to the lip of the fender and the metal hooks by the rear pegs...I think it was around $9.

Can fit carry-out food, some groceries, stack of books, etc., without much issue.

Re: Gen 2 Helmet Holders - Flawed Design?

I bought a helmet lock/strap thing and loop that around my helmet to hang. I hated using the built in hooks, I always felt they weren't very well designed. I also used to just hang it on the rear foot pegs and lock it to those.

Now I just carry my helmet with me and put it on my desk at work :| Im a commuter though so it works - going for rides and doing this can be a pain in the butt.
