FI light when roll on >170deg

Hi all,

Tried searching but couldn’t find this problem.

I have an 07 SV650s that I bought over the summer. Already has a PC3 a K&N and an M4 slip on. Bike was meticulously maintained by the previous owner and I’ve kept that up.

Problem: When the bike is u see 170 degrees if I roll into the throttle anything past say 25% the FI light kicks on and does the intermittent flash. No clue what code and I can’t do dealer mode because the code is gone upon restart. As long as I’m consistently over 170 I can run her hard as I like and she just seems to enjoy it more lol. When it was warm out it wasn’t as big of an issue as I could keep it above 170 for the most part but now that’ it’s cooler out I can’t go above 35 mph without the temp dropping back down and the problem manifesting again.

I went in and put in the correct map for M4 and K&N but no change. New plugs no change. Tried every gas I can and also no change (weirdly for an injected bike though it markedly enjoys 90 octane ethanol free more than normal 93 premium.)

Just wondering if anyone has any input on this as I’m kinda stumped. Only other thing I can think of is I think the throttle bodies may need synced but it doesn’t seem like coolant temp should have a bearing on that causing a light.

Thanks in advance!

Gabe

add a remote switch for dealer mode and flip it on?
is it FI or oil? cause the red light is both

It’s FI. The temp rotates with “FI” down bottom right side. Intermittent switch is a solid idea. Thanks.

Re: FI light when roll on >170deg

It could just be the temperature sensor.

Ok. Bit more testing done. Water temp isn’t really the indicator. Seems to be the overall amt. of heat soak so I’m wondering if when the air charge is lite dense (colder) it’s actually sensing a lean condition or something. On hot days it would take about 5 min warm up and maybe a minute of riding before I could get on it. Now that it’s down 50s 60s it’s about 8 min warm up and at least 10 minutes of riding before it can be whooped on without throwing the light.

Please anyone with some further input?

Have you tried removing the PC3....that is likely your problem anyway.

Re: FI light when roll on >170deg

put it in dealer mode, go do what it takes to throw the code, tell us what the code is

otherwise you're just chasing your tail
