45k with serious engine issues... what now?

I absolutely love my 2008 SV650SF. I've had her for years, we've gone all over the country together and I've successfully clocked 45,000 miles on her recently, just before I lost a internal bearing. I've got some big engine work ahead of me and thought I'd ask your opinion on the next step.

My original plan was to hit 50k, buy a new bike and keep my 650 as a track bike. I'm a little before my goal so I'm wondering if I should move the race bike plans forward or take the time to rebuild her and keep her on the road for a while longer.

If I do keep her on the road a little longer, anyone have any suggestions on some nice mods I can do while I'm in the engine. I'd like to get a little more "umph" from her but I'm not too interested in boring anything out.

Whether I do anything special or not I plan to do a full mid-life overhaul and swap everything out so she's brand new. I'll even pay pics and progress in case it helps others.

how did you spin a bearing, did you run it low on oil?

it'll most likely be cheaper to swap in a used engine than to rebuild what you have, even just looking at parts cost. if you're paying someone else to build it that's even more true.

I always have my oil up. Honestly, I had an issue with a bad shop and I'm pretty sure they didn't do their last work on it right. Not exactly sure since I haven't had the opportunity to even crack it open. The sound it makes definitely sounds like the bearing issue

buy another motor for like $600 and swap it in. boom done.

if you're doing stuff... grab the intake cams off the old motor and throw them in as exhausts. maybe get the flywheel lightened. do a metal oil pump gear.

Could it be a faulty cam chain tensioner?

As Snailman mentioned, are you sure it's a internal bearing. A cam chain tensioner could also make a terrible sound.

If you aren't sure, take it to a good indy shop with strong reviews and have it inspected to be sure.
