Re: Ceramic wheel bearings

Mostly a Land Speed Racing (LSR) thing, but it does reduce rolling resistance.

Kind of at the bottom of the list of improvements for most, as the cost is significant and the returns minor - but if you are looking for every last MPH...

Best to have done everything else you can think of first.

Re: Ceramic wheel bearings

+1 $99 for front set here:
http://www.factorypro.com/
While you're there check out Vstax.
3HP gain at 9000 rpm, verified with dyno charts.
(I was just going to PM you about both of these)

Re: Ceramic wheel bearings

I've used ceramic bearings. Only placed i noticed was spinning the wheel while bike was on the front stand. Couldn't feel difference when riding. Never equated to faster lap time.

and those stacks aren't worth the money.

I have the Vstax... I looked on the Factory Pro site... this ignition advancer.. claiming 1-2hp... Is anyone using it ?
I 'believe' (don't say a word) that ceramic wheels bearing would give me 2-3kmh top speed... the 2 front, 3 rear are about $150 a set on ebay.. about 3 times the price of std sealed jobbies... the placebo affect would be priceless...

I got those stax years go.. when we dyno'd it the chart came out identically to the FP chart... so they worked exactly as advertised... Why do you think +3.5hp is a waste of money ?
And this ignition advancer.. What is it exactly ?... in the photo it looks like some kind of bolt... I can't see what it is... does anyone use it ?

Would that even be noticeable? Are you running a non-o-ring chain and lightweight sprockets already?

This is for road racing?

IF they actually increased power by 3.5hp it wouldn't be a waste but they don't. If you have a proper tune with the stock stacks, the Factory pro ones arent as much of a gain. In some cases, no gain at all.

The ignition advancer isn't a bolt. It's an offset woodruff key that moves flywheel 4 degrees.

He's not racing,

I noticed lighter chain and sprocket made way more of a difference.

Are you suggesting that longer stax make no difference on any motor or just the SV6 ? (If there was room I would have run both the 70mm stax)

We dyno'd mine with stock stax, then slipped the FP ones on and up she went 3.5hp in the mid range...exactly like the FP dyno sheet. i'm assuming your suggesting i could have tuned the std stax for a 3.5hp gain ?.... I wonder what would then happen if I put the FP ones on ?.....
