If you're not sure where to send that stuff:

Falicon in Clearwater Florida does a pretty good job with the SV cranks. I've had them do some of my stuff in the past and to do the work you're talking about it will probably be $225. The headwork and cylinder boring can be done by KWS Motorsports. You may want to check with Zoran at Twin Works Factory also. I think he may do the headwork and I know he does the cylinder boring. He's known as one of the best SV guys around so if I were you I'd contact him first!

Re: SV650 Motor Tear down

"the ez-out also broke" I'd like to find the marketing guy who came up with that name and get my fingers around his throat.

Interesting. I'm hoping not to have to break mine down that far, but this looks like a great visual reference to complement the manual!

I haven't begun the tear down, but I have made room, removed, the fluids, radiator, etc. So, I'm ready to find out why my bike is making chocolate milk in the engine. I'm hoping that it's a head gasket, although I've heard that we have freeze plugs that could blow out. It was in the 20's while I was gone, but I won't know anything until I get in there.

I'f you've got any lessons learned on the reassembly...I'd love to hear them before I have a chance of running into them. This wll be my first major bike repair.

Oh...and who did you order your gaskets through. Did you purchased an entire rebuild kit?

Re: SV650 Motor Tear down

Thanks! I didn't realize that yours was still apart. I'll try to remember to take some pictures during my reassembly.

Re: SV650 Motor Tear down

Wow. That is quite the undertaking. Thanks for the awesome pictures--it's one thing to see the rebuild process in a manual, but entirely another when you see pictures like this!
