Hello, I am looking for a bike for my wife, sv650?

She is 5'3" and I am concerned that the SV650S is too tall for her. I would appreciate any experiences in this regard. She previously rode a Honda NT650 and that was about the limit for her. Any suggestions or advice regarding lowering the bike? Thanks.

Is she a sentient human being with her own will, needs and emotions? If so, I'd strongly suggest she be the one to look around, sit on —and ride— different bikes and then decide what she wants to ride next.

Avoid buying an 03 as they have a higher seat than other years. People usually lower these bikes with different sized dog bones.

Does your wife have preference on the kind of bike she would like to ride?
Does she have experience in riding?
Are you looking for a new or used bike?

Check out cycle-ergo.com

According to their site, the 88-91 NT650 and 04-13 SV650S have about the same seat height, but what I find is that some bikes with clip ons can be a long reach. I imagine at 5'3, that might be the case for your wife, and the cycle-ergo comparison tool makes it look fairly dramatic.

You might want to look for an SV650 standard, rather than an S. It is much closer in riding position to the NT650.

Of course, physically sitting on the bike is the best thing. One nice thing about the SV platform is that it is easily modified to become anything you need it to be. Bars or bar risers can be added. Seat height can be lowered. And on and on.

My wife is 5'3" too, and she would need to lower my SV650S to be nearer to flat footed at a stop. She just finds it better, more confidence inspiring, to do so.
In motion, the reach to the bars would be a lot, but the foot pegs would be fine. As noted above an N would fix that.
What she does ride is a lowered CB500R so like the first response - from OfirMX - see what she wants.
