Stripped seat bolt

Hi, I locked my key under my rear seat last night and have been trying to pick the lock myself. I can’t get it open. I heard that you could access the rear compartment somewhat with the driver seat off. Now I found a stripped bolt holding it. Super frustrated I don’t know what to do. How would you get a bolt off or get to the rear seat. I’ll eventually have to fix the bolt for maintenance reasons but getting the key is top priority. Hopefully I can reach it once seat is off.

Re: Stripped seat bolt

Getting something behind the stripped bolt to apply outward pressure while spinning it would be the first thing to try.

Next step would be drilling the head off the bolt.

Stripped threads, or stripped allen hole?

It’s a rounded bolt head. Can’t get a grip with grips

1) Get a Dremel and cut a slot across the head for a flat screwdriver.

2) Drill it out. Reverse-thread drill bit if you can find one and you might get lucky if it grips and winds out.

3) EZ-outs or similar screw/bolt extractors.

Pretty sure it's an M6, probably 20mm long.

^ These are all good options.

I've also used a chisel on the edge to spin the bolt out.

Stripped socket head opening is better than stripped threads.
