torque setting

hello all,
I Just got a 2002 sv650 and I'm trying to install shogun no cut frame sliders..however im confused on what the torque setting should be on the bolts. should they be 40 lbs or 67.5 lbs... I can't find a clear answer online or in the manual

Re: torque setting

One thing you can do is measure how tight the current bolts are. I.e. turn them as if loosening slightly until they just break loose, then go to tighten again, this time with your torque wrench, and see how much torque it takes to get them to budge a teensy bit.

Save for moving/critical or very damage sensitive parts (i.e. rod bolts, axle nuts, crank bearing bolts, etc.) I rarely use a torque wrench. After wrenching on things for a few years you get a good feel for how tight things should be.
