Top triple question

Will a top triple from an 2000 S model fit onto a 2000 naked model? Thanks.

Re: Top triple question

The S-model triple is 5mm thicker than the N-model. I think it fits if you dont have a top mount steering damper, but you do lose some thread engagement on the top nut.

Re: Top triple question

i thought that when people switched from an "s" to an "n" it was advised to get both triple clamps, not just the top? right?

something with the offset?

For sure on second gen, the offset is different, but I'm not sure about first gen.

Re: Top triple question

First gen is the same offset, I have a spare of each that I just double checked.

Re: Top triple question

that explains all the triple clamps on ebay minus the top triple. i had resigned to drilling my svs triple for dirt bike bars, but now if i can find a stock "n" triple that may make it a ton easier on me!

anyone selling (or want to trade?) a 1st gen "s" for "n" top triple?

Re: Top triple question

im trying to do the same thing right now because of my wrist problems trying to get a more comfortable ride. i was lucky and found some body selling the top and bottom for 40 bucks so hopefully it'll all get done soon.

Re: Top triple question

Here is a couple pics. Like I said, they are the same fork offset for the first gen models. The S-model upper is approx 5mm thicker around the steering stem hole. The S-model lower clamp has a longer steering stem and uses a thinner jam nut also to accommodate this. The S-model clamp will work on a N-model but you will lose thread engagement on the very top nut so it may not work with some rotary style steering dampers. This will also affect your front ride height measurement if you are used to measuring it by the distance from the fork cap to the triple.
