Carb Jet Question

I just disassembled my carbs to clean them out and I found something very strange - not sure if i'm just remembering wrong or is something wacky. i rejetted them long ago when I did some mods, to 150 mains and 17.5 pilots IIRC. I know I did 2.5 turns out for the mains, the pilots I don't recall. But when I removed them today they were both turn all the way down for both carbs; ie. turned down to the stop and not backed out at all. What am I missing?

Re: Carb Jet Question

Wow, that was dumb. I mean the pilot screw was backed out 2.5 turns, not the main jet! answered my own stupid question!

Re: Carb Jet Question

the main jet and the pilot jet need to be tightened down, as to not come loose inside the bowls!!!

you are mixing up the "turns out" adjustment that is done on the "idle mixture screws"!!!
the idle mixture screws are set at 2 to 2.5 turns out from bottom!

Re: Carb Jet Question

i think 2.5 is to lean, closer to three is right.

Re: Carb Jet Question

Yes, I figured out my mistake - just had a blonde moment! LOL

R.E. misture screw, doesn't turning it out make the mixture richer, not leaner? i.e. 2.5 turns is richer than 2 turns?
