Are there any DOT approved fender eliminators?

Does anyone know of any fender eliminators that are DOT approved? If not does anyone know how to make one that will pass as dot approved? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

-Pay the guy off and it will be DOT approved.
-Carve DOT on the eliminator or get a DOT sticker

I don't see why it needs to be DOT approved as long as it fullfills your state requirements. But New York might be a bit different than Illinois.

Re: Are there any DOT approved fender eliminators?

As long as you have working lights and blinkers, you should be good to go. Even if you need an inspection, the inspectors are not noting fender eliminators per se, just that you have properly working and clearly visible lights and blinkers.

Okay, sounds like I should be fine provided the lights work correctly and the plate is visible. Any suggestions on a kit to go with?

Re: Are there any DOT approved fender eliminators?

I have this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUZUK...item43a77bf355

It kept the bike "DOT" approved. You won't get pull over on this. At least in NY. It meets all the requirements. It also allowed me to modify my turn signals.. Here is what it looked like when I replaced them a few years ago. Note I still had the stock tires. But I replaced that after I did the FE. Here:

Same one I have, and I wrote a guide to installing it here:

My bike is registered in Florida = no inspection, no insurance needed, no helmet needed, you can smoke inside a bar, you can drink outside. Even though I have full coverage and wear my helmet.

Gotta love the south of the south.

Re: Are there any DOT approved fender eliminators?

Just get an OEM fender eliminator... it should keep you legal.

Re: Are there any DOT approved fender eliminators?

I had a FE on mine when I bought it. But it still looked bad to me. So I removed everything and made my own brackets for the blinkers. They're just little 'L' brackets that mount where the fender does and the come out at the edge of the undertail. The plate was mounted under the tail, in front of the tire, but high enough to remain visible. Had to fab up a bracket for that too.
