GS450 Cafe Racer/Streetfighter discussion thread

So I thought, I'd start a thread in case anyone wants to make comments on the build.

Nice! Looks like a great project. Particularly interested in your Frankenstein motor. You do some clean sheet metal fab.

Re: GS450 Cafe Racer/Streetfighter discussion thread

Guys still race those GS450s in WERA Vintage. Parts and good advice can be found there.

I like that bike a lot as the basis for a cafe ...

My thought is that that modern front end and especially those wide rims/tires are gonna stress that old flexxy frame and possibly cause handling issues. I know a lot of builders do it ... but that doesnt mean its a good idea.

Consider stock rim sizes and tires rather than radials. Just my 2 cents.

That's one way to go. Another way is to add some gusseting to that frame. Plenty of info/advice about this on the EuroSpares website.

Noted. The plan is to eventually put some spoked wheels on it. I'm pretty sure a Harley Narowglide front hub will fit the GSXR frontend with little work. I just have to figure out something for the rear.

Re: GS450 Cafe Racer/Streetfighter discussion thread

OK, forgive a pet peeve, but almost all wheels are spoked - I think you mean laced wheels.

This build thread might be helpful about fitting a Harley hub to a modern USD front end:
