Shock and Swingarm bearings

Evening All,

So for the MOT last year, I was advised to replace the swing arm bearings and rear shock, and as the MOT is around again in about 2 months, I better get them sorted!

I looked to replace the shock with something off a different bike, but I have just ended up getting a low mileage used shock off another SV. So my question is, when replacing the shock, would you replace the bearings as well regardless of their condition? I dont want to get the bike stripped down and discover I need the bearings so it has to stay off the road for another week!

I'm going to try and get this all done in one weekend, I'm not looking forward to getting the swing arm off, looks like it wont be a fun job!

Thanks for your help, and ride safe!

Dan.
