Re: Finally happened... my first real crash on my SFV650 Gladius

IPSC down in Florida back around '90-91. Never got very good at it...mid-pack was my normal outcome, but this was running a 10mm Delta (my daily carry) against all the race guns so I really didn't...

Re: Alternator output

It's always a good thing to have a voltmeter on the bike! You might be discharging the battery under certain conditions and without monitoring the charging you'll have no way to know...which could...

Re: Gen 3 Spark Plugs

I was told a good while back that the 7500 mile inspection call was due to the projection of the shell into the combustion chamber tending to accumulate carbon. If left too long it will get so thick...

Re: Finally happened... my first real crash on my SFV650 Gladius

Back in the 60's and 70's the motorcycle rags used to always do brake testing as drums were the norm and discs were just coming into regular use. They mostly stopped doing it because the brakes...

Re: Cam Swap Timing Question

Yes...you are right.:( ( It was really early...shouldn't try to think before lunch). The tensioner WILL determine what happens...it's on the slack side while the other side pulls, so shortening...

Re: Cam Swap Timing Question

It doesn't matter where the chain tensioners are...taking material off of the cylinder puts the cams closer to the crank so their timing will be advanced.

Picture holding the cam and assume that...

Re: Finally happened... my first real crash on my SFV650 Gladius

Riding in heavy traffic sucks bad....but a minimum of 2 second following distance should be kept or things like this can happen to you. Looks like you were about a second which just isn't enough...

Re: Sucky pushrod seal design

Your drilled and tapped holes for the new retainer plate have gone through the lips of the seal...yes? Looks like you've created more of a problem than what you've been trying to solve.

The pic...

Re: Clutch questions

Cable routing is pretty important....so you might go after that being that too sharp a bend can feel OK without load but then bind and drag when loaded. The lever being used can also change the...

Re: Clutch questions

There should be a roller bearing in the clutch hat that should spin rather than spinning the pushrod. Perhaps it's seized? If the pushrod is spinning it's going to be wearing both ends which WILL...

Re: SV650X on dyno: interesting results

Interesting. Have you ever read about the history of the Dynojet chassis dyno? If not: https://www.hotrod.com/articles/dynojet-chassis-dyno/

Thing about them is they aren't really a precise...

Re: Clogged Injectors

It never hurts to clean the fuel pump inlet screen (low pressure filter ala Suzuki manual) as they tend to accumulate lots of gunk....especially if the tank is dirty with rust. The High Pressure...

Re: Clogged Injectors

Welcome to the Forum!:)

Any injector that's been fed ethanol laced fuel and then left to sit could possibly be stuck internally which sounds to be the case as you should have gotten spray with 12V...

Re: Run the SV like a diesel?

Well.....in a sort, yes. Firstly...this forum section is for the SV1K's...but I'm sure most of what we're talking about could also work on the 650's...just haven't played with one so that's...

Re: Run the SV like a diesel?

The diesel isn't limited by the compression cycle, it's the mechanics of injection and the time frame for combustion getting too small that limits how high they rev. The Audi endurance engines at...

Re: 06 sv650 fading spark

Yes....the crank sensor tests in the service manual would be for resistance then cranking voltage. Did the PO by chance replace the stator? They come with crank sensors and there can be issues if...

Run the SV like a diesel?

Have you ever wondered why diesels get better fuel economy than gas motors? Some of it is in the fuel....diesel has about 8% more BTU's per gallon so you can expect to get more work from it, but...

Re: More light at night

First step is to install a direct relay to the stock headlamps using the factory wiring to activate the relay only. This will normally increase the voltage to the bulb/s over a full Volt which will...

Re: Sucky pushrod seal design

Hey Greg!
Is the seal popping OUT...or going IN too deep? If it's coming out...how does it get past the seal retainer? According to the manual the seal is just pushed in to flush or nearly so...
