Re: Heated gear, sv650 charging system Capacity

Lots of folks run heated gear on the SV650, no problem. The gen2 has a 375W generator, gen1 is 400W, both have good enough reserve for heated gear.

Your Naked SV has one headlight (vs two for...

Re: What is this wire?

That is a hacked up front lighting harness. It is separate from the main harness. Here is a wiring diagram snip.

Re: Plug gap closed up

I agree. The oil pressure light would be on and the rods banging LOUD if there were enough rod clearance to smack the plugs. Also, it is not possible, regardless of engine build, to hit the center...

Re: cold running issues

Try test again but make sure the kill switch is Off and the bike is in Neutral.

Kill switch On or bike in gear with the side-stand down will kill power to the ECM and thereby no voltage on B/Br.

Re: Gas Tank Leak

The fuel pump check-valve is leaking. I do not believe there is an easy way to disassemble to clean it, RecoilRob or someone else might know.

The check-valve is there to keep the fuel-rail at...

The part is only two bucks but shipping will be triple that or more. If you have...

Re: Snapped a bolt

Identify the bolt from this image, it is either #13 or #14. Order at the dealer or buy on-line. Price is $1.79. You will likely need to remove the stator cover to extract the broken bolt so might...

Re: Front sprocket/counter-shaft

Chains are like toilet paper rolls, they go fast at end-of-life.

The chain may not need adjustment for thousands of miles but once it starts to wear out (especially if the o-rings fail) it will...

Re: SV-s headlight tab repair

On second thought, I think any replicator business plan will have a fatal flaw... "Replicator, make me another replicator".

Re: SV-s headlight tab repair

The devil is in the details!

I've wanted a 3D printer since they first came out. I still do not have one but did buy a small Sherline Lathe and CNC mill a few years ago.

Similar to 3D printing...

Excellent, PeterL!

What is involved translating Sketchup output to 3D input? I've only used Sketchup a few times but it is a friendly program and very cool the way you can rotate and view the...

Re: Plug gap closed up

That was my first guess. It is hard to imagine anything else unless there is something very strange going on with that engine. It is possible to be on the hairy edge and not notice until later.

Re: Front sprocket/counter-shaft

It is easy to replace the push-rod seal from the left side, no need to remove the clutch.

Did the push-rod seal pop all the way out? That would seem the only way it could leak enough to have to...

Re: rusty gas tank? not sure what to do

Hi mitsumike,

The first thing to do with this $100 bike is try to get it running (new battery, clean the carbs, fresh gas). That will double your investment right off the bat, haha. You do not...

Re: What does the speedometer resister do and doni need it?

As busdriver said, the resistor pack on the subframe is for the fuel level sensors.

It is okay to remove but then of course the fuel level light will not work.

If the gauge is still on the bike...

Re: Chain stiffening

The chain is toast.

Look at the chain not the valve stem. Mark one spot on the chain and watch as the wheel rotates. You will see one tight spot, one lose spot per chain revolution. Same place...

Re: Cam Swap Timing Question

That is degrees of cam rotation relative to milling the head.

Two degrees crank rotation per one degree for the cam.

One degree of crank rotation would be 0.011".
