Re: engine swap

my recollection, having read about it but not having done it, is that there are interference problems between the TBs and frame crossmembers.

Re: FI light when roll on >170deg

put it in dealer mode, go do what it takes to throw the code, tell us what the code is

otherwise you're just chasing your tail

Re: 45k with serious engine issues... what now?

how did you spin a bearing, did you run it low on oil?

it'll most likely be cheaper to swap in a used engine than to rebuild what you have, even just looking at parts cost. if you're paying...

Re: Finally happened... my first real crash on my SFV650 Gladius

did you not read the next sentence I wrote? I'm not sure why you're trying to refute my statement by posting something that agrees with me.

however, there's an issue with that: you don't need to...

Re: To race it or not?

the downside is you'll want to put a decent amount of money into it to race: shock, fork upgrades, probably rearsets, etc

Re: Finally happened... my first real crash on my SFV650 Gladius

I didn't see this before, but was going to say that this would almost certainly be 100% your fault.

You're required to follow far enough that you can stop if the person in front of you does. I...

Re: Gen 2 race bike, ZX6R swingarm swap, wheel swap

hmm, I wonder if anyone has put one on an SV1000. stock swingarm is better than the 650 but nowhere near as nice looking as that. rear header is a problem there too.

Re: Oscillating Tach

12.49V when it's been sitting for at least a couple hours doesn't sound abnormal

Re: Is one of my forks cracked?

that's normal, so that the bolt at the bottom can hold onto the axle.

with the bolt loose, the axle can slide in and out. with the bolt tight, it holds the axle. if it wasn't for the split, it...

Re: Chain stiffening

the most likely scenario is that there's a tight spot (and loose spot) in your chain

you need to adjust it so you have proper slack when in the tight spot, or else you risk bending your output...

Re: RR Unit / Stator Destroyed (Fix/Upgrade Project) Other Electrical Things

it's unlikely you'll get much money for a 1st gen that doesn't run well

the screws use JIS heads, so people using a phillips screwdriver often round them out. it's a good idea to replace with...

Re: zx6r shock setup on Gen 2

between the two, did you adjust ride height on either end to maintain the same trail with the two front tires?

if changing nothing else, it'll turn in faster with the 60 than the 70... but it...

Re: zx6r shock setup on Gen 2

IMO your geometry is better with a 70 profile front and the rear raised enough to get rake/trail where you want it. the profile on the 70 is better for handling.

if ride height is an issue due to...

Re: SV650 Geometry fix

so you have 300mm rotors? you can use that wheel and rotors, https://www.svrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=135430 the matrix there shows that you'll need 4mm spacers with your current calipers and...

Re: SV650 Geometry fix

while I imagine it'd be possible to adapt the SV front wheel, it isn't easy. you'll want a GSXR wheel, rotors, calipers, and preferably master too.

06/07 600/750 and 05-09 1000 use thin straight...

Re: Bar size

7/8 is standard for all Japanese and Euro bikes... maybe some of their cruisers use something else though, not sure.

Re: Practice and Proficiency vs Ownership

it's entirely possible for people practicing without instruction (or with poor instruction) to learn bad habits. practicing doesn't always make you good.

Re: SV650 Geometry fix

you can put any matched set from that age range in any of those triples, yes. I wouldn't want to mix and match left vs right fork though.

also the 06/07 vs 08/09 use a different size hole in the...

Re: SV650 Geometry fix

if you go to a better fork length and 70 profile tire, rake will be back where it should be

lengthening the rear shock won't help make it less cramped unless you're also doing other things

as...

Re: Gen 1 SV650 w/ZX9 front to GSXR?

right, you absolutely want some sort of steering stops, but you can probably take a file to them and remove a little at a time to improve steering lock without the forks hitting the radiator

are...

Re: Gen 1 SV650 w/ZX9 front to GSXR?

What's keeping you from turning the bars more? The easy way might be to remove some material from the steering stops on the triple clamp.

On a Gen1, GSXR steering stops don't line up so you'll...
