Re: Downloadable Service Manual for 2007 SV650

Here's an owner's manual for a 2004 (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1h02EHe5AuffsHXK6OVhZlAXZIaxwQKuT/view?usp=drivesdk). Unless you have a Gladius it should cover 95% of your bike (other than ABS...

Re: Deep water crossing

If you've never done it, this would also be a good time to clean and re-grease the shock linkage bearings.

Re: 2007 SV maintenance

Ride it more!
But seriously, I'd change all the fluids (oil, coolant, brake fluid), fork oil too if it was never changed. New battery unless you had it on a trickle charger. Check that the air...

Re: Shock and Swingarm bearings

Unless you have play in the bearings, there is no need to replace them. You should however clean and regrease the bearings of the shock linkage. Especially if you're riding in the wet and on salted...

Re: Need wiring help! SV650 Heated Grips install

Once you have time to do it properly, get a terminal block, an automotive relay and follow these instructions:

Re: Replaced the Sparkplugs today - super easy!

So then why, good sir, does the service manual request a yearly/every 7k miles change of the spark plugs?

A set of spark plugs is $7. Lots of people seem to obsessively change their oil filters...

Re: Can't get to ignition wiring...

The dust cover is held on by one screw. Not sure what else to tell you, it should be straightforward.
To access the ignition lock, you'll need to remove the headlight housing and have security torx...

Re: 3rd gen vibration.

To 1) the initial checks I'd do are:
* chain too tight?
* are all bolts tightened to spec?
There are many more checks you could do but with only 2k miles on your odo they seem overkill.

Re: Valve check: I've got that feeling, you know?

He's recommending to set the intake clearance out of spec just so it equals the exhaust clearance, because "it's common practice on race engines"? No thanks.

Get a service manual and follow the...

Re: R.I.P to my 2000 SV650

I have the same issue with my Emgo filter. I chalked it up to not having it tightened enough the first time. But even after re-tightening it, I can still wipe off a bit of oil at the gasket.
I'll...

Re: Too many miles

You're right, engine was changed at 113k miles, and it has another 127k miles on the replacement one (user Danimal). There are multiple other high mileage reports in this thread...

Re: Too many miles

Welcome to the forum, but please make sure to post in the right section next time.

31k miles is barely past the adolescent stage for this engine if it has been taken care of as per manual. Any...

Re: oil change confusion

The oil check glass is at the very front of the oil sump, so even a little uphill slant will have drastic effects on the level. So make sure the bike is level horizontally as well as vertically.

Re: Valve check question

I think you meant to say 0.025mm increments. The manual states a 14.5k mile/ 24k km check interval. Thanks for the link though!
My exhaust valves were 0.02mm from the tight end of the spec but the...

Re: So What Is the Overall Assessment on Gen. 3?

I think 4 piston calipers are new for the 2019 model. Maybe that's also the case for the preload adjusters?
I do like the black with red frame and red wheels scheme though.

Re: So What Is the Overall Assessment on Gen. 3?

I do not own a 3rd gen, but my take-aways from sitting on it and seeing various reviews are, that it has a more uncomfortable seat (which is apparently intentional to provide more feel for the road),...

Re: Delkevic Slip-on?

Do you have the carbon fiber version? I wonder about longevity of it.
Apparently it's all about the quality of the resin that holds the fibers together. I've read reports of some Delkevic CF cans...

Re: Looking to buy this 06 sv650, need guidance

I wouldn't spend more than $1000 $500 on it. But only if you're eager to spend a few hundred hours in the garage rather than riding it; parts are relatively cheap, but will add up.
The condition of...
