Re: Def keeping my SV650, but looking for a Strom...

Have you considered the Versys 650/1000? It's another viable option at least and very similar to what we are all familiar with.

Re: zx6r shock setup on Gen 2

That's very good frame of reference right there, and really the info I was looking for. I suspected this shock was just wrong from the outset so I'm pretty sure a RaceTech trip is in order next week....

Re: zx6r shock setup on Gen 2

busdriver
that is a spec I'm trying to nail down too. According to RaceTech's site the '09zx6r spring rate is 9.2kg/mm (sounds close to your number) and according to this thread...

Re: zx6r shock setup on Gen 2

That right there is why I went with the 70 in the first place. I figured it would even out the taller rear shock. While I'm sure it did, I found that I didn't care for the 70 profile when I was doing...

Re: zx6r shock setup on Gen 2

Well I checked my numbers again. Front is the same as I wasn't messing with it (it's in that 30-40mm range, about 35). I had set the rear to 35mm as well but it's more like 40 now after I backed it...

Re: Do I want an SV650?

Heck yeah! Valkyrie track day!!! :vroom: I guarantee you wouldn't be the first one to do it :naughty:

Honestly I'd track the ST1300, I bet you would have an awesome time and learn great stuff in...

Re: zx6r shock setup on Gen 2

Well that's kinda my issue. I started with this video and Dave Moss' video on sag when I originally set this up. After feeling as though the bike wanted to buck me I started second guessing my rear...

Re: zx6r shock setup on Gen 2

I have not set the rebound to nearly open, no. I will definitely try that. It's just in the middle now. I set the preload for sag because I thought that was a good place to start but you may be right...

Re: Strange fuel leak

I'm not sure that the disintegrating filter and breather tube is to blame. These bikes have a tendency to leak at a grey plastic fuel fitting under the tank near the back. Mine does occasionally...

zx6r shock setup on Gen 2

All,
I installed a zx6r shock on my 2007 sv650s over a year ago and I am really questioning my choice and whether or not my setup is close to correct. Here is where I'm at:
front forks: .90kg/mm...

Re: Question regarding exhaust compatibility

If you really want to get louder either mod your stocker or wait for a used slip-on made to fit the your SV. Or if you have a welder get the one you're looking at and make it fit. That being said I'd...

Re: Hail & Bail...

$600/year? Dang, I live in Murrieta and I pay $10/month for Geico (full coverage) and about $130/yr for registration. Maybe Riverside Co vs San Diego Co makes that difference? I don't blame you for...

Re: hi guys, new from ct

Dang, jumped in with both feet on that one eh? Good luck with the rebuild and be sure to do some reading and take classes when you can. The SV is just about the best thing you could think of to learn...

Re: Paint gas tank or get a cover

I like your attitude about it! Support your local body man :icon_biggrin: no matter how expensive he is. I fully realize how hard the work is, that's why none of my bikes ever had good paint.

It...

Re: Not my Plastic

Wow, that is an unfortunate amount of ill fitting bodywork where it does not belong. One good dip in the road at speed though and it looks like it would liberate itself from an otherwise good looking...

Re: post ur racebike/track day pics

Nice seat/subframe MotoTS, I've been considering doing the same to mine. Yours looks well executed and the resultant seating position is closer to what I'm going for.

Re: 34mpg... What's wrong?

Not gonna argue whether or not twin spark is for emissions or not but I've never heard that it hurt performance and mpg... if anything I thought it resulted in the same dyno readings and slightly...

Re: Hunting down a battery charging issue

I assume you have a multimeter since you said it checked good before, you should have about 14.5v a bit above idle, 12.7 on the battery alone. I put a cheap little usb charger on my bike that also...

Re: Fuel Efficiency vs Power: Is stock the best setup?

Not to get totally sidetracked with the weight thing but my "fighting weight" as you put it (I never wrestled but when I was legitimately lifting back in college) I was 220-225. I'm 6'2" and after I...
