Re: Front sprocket/counter-shaft

I'm pretty sure that the clutch rod should NOT be spinning. It could indicate that the bearing on the clutch basket cover is seized and may have seized the rod to the bearing. Make sure you can pull...

Re: Finally happened... my first real crash on my SFV650 Gladius

Not trying to be a jerk, but I have trouble with the statement "Braking is the last option." That mindset probably delayed your using maximum braking to stop. Braking should be always one of the most...

Re: Practice and Proficiency vs Ownership

I agree 10000%
When I used to be a race instructor I would constantly see guys looking at all the wrong things when they were trying to improve. Mostly it was " If I had more power I'd be faster"....

Re: Down on compression, poor power

On some bikes, the valves, especially the intakes, tighten up over time. Check the clearances yourself. $2000 to replace the pistons and rings is silly. You can do the job yourself for MUCH less even...

Re: 1st Gen Running Like Crap...help and a hug please

If your bike sat out in the rain, the fact that it ran for a bit makes me think you have a bad fuel tank cap seal. Water will go to the bottom of the tank. You got it cleaned out momentarily they...

Re: A Few Questions

Actually on some carbs those ports need to be left open. With it running see if there is vacuum there. If so, plug them. If not leave them open. They sometimes vent the float bowl.

Re: A Few Questions

Just cap those. Make sure you leave the tank vent hose that used to go to the canister open to atmosphere.

Re: Down on compression, poor power

Do a Leak down test. It will show exactly what your problem is. Easy to do, basically takes an air chuck that screws into the spark plug holes and an air compressor. It's nice to have the gauges...

Re: Broken sv 650 sk3

I had an 86 Ninja 1000 once. On the way home from work on the freeway it lost all drive. Pulled over and it was running fine. Shut it off quick. Towed it to my shop. I found that the entire inner...

Re: Dead SVS??

Also search for the famous "Green Plug' problem. They burn and can cause all kinds of trouble. And don't just look at it. Unplug it and make sure the contacts aren't burned.

OOPs just noticed it's a 750, not a 600.. Same details apply.

Re: Brake Lever Travel Excessive after Front Caliper Rebuilds

Also it could be partly due to the fact that now that you have cleaned the calipers, the pads are retracting more than when the caliper was dirty. I'd keep bleeding then get down and look to see how...

Re: SV1000 Won't Start, out of ideas. PLEASE HELP

If the starter motor did not spin the motor with a DIRECT jump from the battery,
FIRST- like stated above, pull the spark plugs and check that your cylinders aren't full of gas. turn the motor over...

Re: 2004 But It's Yellow

I had a yellow Ducati 916 and I'm neither gay nor a trans.
;D
I loved it. I could always find my bike in a sea of red and black.

Re: Someone wants to trade my 05 Ninja 250 for a 05 Katana (GSX750F)

600 Katana not a bad bike. It uses the old type GSXR600 motor with less power. It has a steel frame and it ain't light. Pretty comfortable. It compares to the CBR600, but the CBR has better...

Re: Bike dies after I stand it straight

Take the seat back off. Look for a loose battery ground or a wire getting crushed by the seat. Happened to me once. Your dirty oil has nothing to do with your running issues.

Re: Replacing tires and chain questions.

You don't have to remove the rotors to do tires. If you're going to take them to a shop just keep the rotor side up and don't let anything heavy sit on them. Use an old tire to sit the front wheel...

Re: Chirping sound coming from front axle

Well since the front axle is held rigid it can't make any noise. Pull the wheel first making sure that you have BOTH the proper spacers, if it uses 2. Roll the bearings and notice if they feel rough...

External pushrod and new clutch seal. Clean the area thoroughly before you start working.

Re: Great hot weather mod!

You don't actually have to cut the fan switch wires. You can just add in the switch to the circuit so the themo switch can still turn the fan on automatically if you forget.

At my apartment I had a ZX10 R parked on a rolling tray , disk lock and usually locked to a pole. I was going to rearrange the bikes in my group so left the lock around the pole off for one day. It...
