Re: Finally happened... my first real crash on my SFV650 Gladius

You should have been able to not only out-brake the car in front but easily maneuver the bike into the gap between the cars. This event should have been a non issue. Do yourself a favor and...

Re: I Hate My Footpegs

Yes, that plate is an extra made to raise and move the pegs back. Removing that plate will bring it back to the stock position but you will have to adjust the gear shift arm thingy when you change...

Re: I Hate My Footpegs

I have the adjustable rearset risers in the link below. They can lower the pegs a little bit but you quickly run into clearance issues with the exhaust and rear brake line length. They're also made...

Re: Canadian Safety Inspection Question

There is a hole but I just can't seem to get it to work. I decided to go the for the safety without the return spring and it was a non issue. They only checked for pad/rotor wear and made sure the...

Re: Acceleration problems

Glad it's working for you but it doesn't make sense that a loose throttle cable would cause the engine to speed up without the bike speeding up. That's a sign of clutch slippage. A loose throttle...

Re: Acceleration problems

Sounds like your clutch is slipping/warn out. Try putting it in 5th gear at a low speed and rpm and go full throttle to see if that'll cause it to rev without giving acceleration. If it does than it...

Re: Hello, I am looking for a bike for my wife, sv650?

Avoid buying an 03 as they have a higher seat than other years. People usually lower these bikes with different sized dog bones.

Re: 34mpg... What's wrong?

Agreed, especially when it comes to low speed, in town riding.

Re: Quick Fork Oil & Shock Upgrade - Need Help Deciding Which

Keep in mind Othen, suspension improvements are just as much as a safety upgrade than a performance upgrade and can be resold when you're finished with the bike an can potentially save your life many...

Re: 34mpg... What's wrong?

I also ride in that RPM range, I average about 54MPG. I accelerate fast and I never really go easy on the throttle. I weigh 170lbs and ride an 03.

Re: Are you concerned parking outside?

In that case you could always replace the screws on those parts with Torx screws. Stealing those bits would most likely be a crime of opportunity and it's not likely for someone to have a torx...

Re: Earplugs/Hearing protection recommendation

I use Alpine Motosafe earplugs. They're not quite as quiet as foam plugs but they do allow certain frequencies to pass through to make it easier to hear music or someone talking. They're more...

Re: Are you concerned parking outside?

If you think you're at risk of having it stolen you should increase your insurance to include theft coverage. When you're bike's parked outside there's not much you can do to prevent it from being...

Re: R.I.P to my 2000 SV650

Feel around your oil filter to see if it's wet. Last year I installed an Emgo oil filter and noticed my oil was draining out of the bike without leaving any puddles, not even a drop on my garage...

Re: Lower footpegs anyone?

If you're using riser plates to lower the rearsets keep in mind there isn't much room for adjustment if you're going lower. You'll run into clearance issues around your exhaust and also issues...

Re: 2002 SV650S fork caps installation

Did the spacers come with the caps or are you using your stock spacers? If not are the new caps longer than the stocks ones? if so you may have to cut the spacers.

Re: 2002 SV650S fork caps installation

If the bike's in the air the forks should be topped out...not bottomed out. I just did my forks for the second time and didn't have a problem getting the caps back on. Did you lift the front end by...

Re: STV TPS

Be very careful, the screws that hold them in place are made of cheese. Take your time removing them and make sure your screw driver is an absolute fit. If the screws won't break loose with...

Re: Elbow Pain ARGH

I don't have this problem. Targeted stretched and light strength training might help secure the joint enough to avoid any pain/injury.

Re: Rearsets or stay with standard?

Depending on what's broken it may be a lot cheaper to just buy ebay rearsets for about $100 and installing a banjo rear brake switch for about $5. It's kind of a pain in the ass to install them and...

Re: Sv650(S&N) vs V Strom vs Versys

Each bike serves it's own mission. Pick your bike based on your mission, not your size. If you want a performance bike you'll never be happy with anything less no matter how comfortable. Also, if...

Re: Is there a definitive/sticky thread on emulator installs?

"Cold temperatures can affect ride quality. Your shock absorbers have oil in them, and when it is cold this oil "thickens"/ increases its viscosity. After several miles of driving the shocks do "warm...

Re: SECONDARY removal.. Yay or Nay?

I'm not an expert on the matter but I have an 03 and I did remove the STV's. I removed them because the robbed power in 1st gear and also caused a hesitation which shifting gears which was abrupt...
