Re: Rattle can paint

I'd consider clearing it all with SprayMax 2K 2-part Gloss Clear.

It's the only paint in a can that can withstand gas. I sprayed an upper and lower R6 fairing in a metallic black base with it a...

Re: Eddie's some funny ... not so funny picture thread

Reminds me of one of Randy Mamola's many amazing saves from back in the day of 500cc 2-strokes.

Re: Strange fuel leak

Check the short fuel line connecting the two throttle bodies on the right side. The OEM clamps eventually loosen and leak. Replacing them with high pressure fuel line clamps from an auto parts...

Re: Help with my next bike: Gen 2 SV, Gen 3 SV, or CBR650f

That is the best looking Gen 3 I've seen!

Re: 1st Gen Running Like Crap...help and a hug please

Good to hear.

I'm thinking a weak battery and it may have been flooded.

Normally if you are starting cold on full choke and you hear it pop, but not start, it's time to back the choke down to...

Re: 1st Gen Running Like Crap...help and a hug please

Keep charging the battery between attempts.

I might also try no choke and WOT throttle cranking in case it's flooded.

Sometimes opening the throttle slightly as you are cranking (with choke)...

Re: 1st Gen Running Like Crap...help and a hug please

I agree it sounds fuel-related as well.

It could be possible that the new gas you got also had water in it if there was any amount of flooding in the area.

Make sure the screens on the petcock...

Re: Locked keys under rear seat!

Looking closely at the lock system, there aren't many options.

What comes to mind is using a coat hanger with a tight hook (maybe a small 90 degree bend would be best) on the end. Go under the...

Re: Stripped seat bolt

^ These are all good options.

I've also used a chisel on the edge to spin the bolt out.

Stripped socket head opening is better than stripped threads.

Re: Stripped seat bolt

Getting something behind the stripped bolt to apply outward pressure while spinning it would be the first thing to try.

Next step would be drilling the head off the bolt.

Re: Leaking gas and won't rev over 5000

I think you'll find that the jets are plugged, but also check that the intake is clear. Damaged carb diaphragms can also restrict the slides from lifting, so check that they are in good shape when...

Re: Leaking gas and won't rev over 5000

That's an issue with 2nd Gen F.I. bikes. The short rubber line connecting the Throttle Bodies leaks due to the weak OEM clamps.

He has a carbed 1st Gen.

Typically if gas is left sitting in a...

Re: Babbitts Online

I've ordered a fair amount of parts from them without any issues.

Your order is so simple you'd think it would be a no-brainer!

Re: High+Low beam together

If you are using a standard bulb you would overload the wiring running both elements at the same time.

The original wiring is barely adequate as it is, especially running high beams during the...

Re: Need some help - hard start issue

According to a local shop owner/builder/racer, high octane gas can cause the starting issue you have.

Try some fresh 87 and see if it changes anything. Run a tank with Techron after.

Re: Need some help - hard start issue

I was going to say fuel system cleaner, but you did that. I will run a tank with Techron Concentrate (1oz per gal) every season to make sure everything is clean. It cleans the injector, but also...
