Cargo net

Hi all,

I have been visiting this site for a while now and have read quite a few good Tips & Tricks.  What I want to share is a neat trick that I have come up with to solve the limited cargo capability my naked 2000 SV.  I don't do a lot of cargo carrying but my son rides with me from time to time.  I needed a way to carry his helmet.  Also, this is a secure way to carry a couple of small bags of groceries.  This mod is for a stock bike if you don't want to hack it up and it keeps your side panels looking new.

1. First get a cargo net from either your local motorcycle dealer or from a mail order. You can either get it to match your bike or in contrast as they come in a wide array of colors.  I got red to match my bike.  The nets usually comes with 6 hooks.  Remove the center 2 as you will not need them.

2. Next,  take off your rear seat and you will find two metal hooks on either side toward the front. Take 2 of the net's hooks and wrap them around the bikes hooks.

Make sure that the net is not in the way of the seat mounting mechanism.

3. Take the seat, reinstall it and pull the net over it.

With the other 2 hooks, hook them under the rear fender.

For carrying objects-

1. Unhook the hooks from the rear fender and pull the net to the front.

2. Place the object that you are carrying on the seat and pull the net over it.  Use the hooks to grab on the rear grab rail.

I hope this tip helps.

Thanks,
Burke
