Re: SV650 Front End Modifications vrs. GSXR Front End Upgrade Poll
I done the springs and emulators on my 05. The diffrence is WOW compare to the stock. I never rode a bike with the gsxr so cant compare realy. Mostly commute and some canyon riding. I dont know if i could use a better front end unless i were a better rider. At what point does the better front end makes a real diffrence in riding What i realy could use is the better brakes.. Till now when riding in the canyons the only people that i couldnt catch up with were better riders then me or some that were willing to take more of a risk going into the blind corners (being 42 puts everything in diffrent light). The bikes never realy made a diffrence how fast they went. But **** some guys can be fast riding some ****y bikes.
What is the value of the stock front end with better internals
Alex

Re: SV650 Front End Modifications vrs. GSXR Front End Upgrade Poll
There are other options that are not on the list.
R1/R6 radial monoblock calipers.....unsprung weight savings about 500gms.
R1/R6 Brembo MC (larger volume than the GSXR MC)

Re: SV650 Front End Modifications vrs. GSXR Front End Upgrade Poll
Regarding the GSXR fork upgrades. Remember, the front height is lowered with these, vs keeping the original geometry with upgrading stock forks.

Too nebulous a subject to have a logical, legitimate poll.

GSXR forks are 3/4 inch (19mm) shorter than SV650 forks when fully extended.
Keep in mind that the SV650 forks have softer springs with more sag than GSXR forks...
With the basic guide line of installing the GSXR forks 3mm below the top of the top triple tree, and installing a 120/70ZR17 front tire. You pretty much resolve the problem.
That is 6mm change on the forks and 12mm change on the tire = 18mm. 1mm shy of 3/4 inch. Simply add 1mm preload and you are set!!!

Re: SV650 Front End Modifications vrs. GSXR Front End Upgrade Poll
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, since I've only followed the GSXR swap threads from a distance, having decided a while back not to do the swap myself.
But, doesn't the cost factor change for nakeds? What I mean is, don't you start also having to deal with how to mount risers on new triples, and new headlight mounting brackets, and etc. Also, I think you have to take time invested in a project as a "cost," as well. The amount of time it took me to put in new springs and the Traxxion drop-in dampers/emulators was a drop in the bucket compared to what it would've taken to perform a GSXR swap (and do it right!).

For me, the best part of the GSXR swap is that you get clip ons instead of handlebars. I mean if you are looking for performance, sport bike racers don't use handle bars.
The headlamp brackets are a simple $35.00 payment... Which the buyer can get back when he sells the stock naked brackets.
The GSXR swap took me 4 hours with the help of my GF... And working on the bike is quality time with my bike.
At the end you get more bang for the money with the GSXR set up. And the cost of the GSXR swap seems to be cheaper...

Re: SV650 Front End Modifications vrs. GSXR Front End Upgrade Poll
Luis, you're killing me here... I have an ABS bike. If you keep talking about how great the GSXR upgrade is, then I'll end up trying to do this upgrade and trying to figure out a way to keep my ABS.
That's gonna cost some $$$, and since I sold my 2nd bike, I will lose out on precious riding time.
I'm gonna try this again (with my ears covered and saying it outloud): EMU's are good enough for me!
Denial is a wonderful thing.
Seriously, I don't track, so EMU's ARE good enough for me. EMU's and 20wt fork oil got rid of my only pet peeve on the front suspension: Fork Dive.
I also got a set of those headlight bracket fork clamps from you, for my Buell light installation. Works like a charm. I'll have to remember to post up some pics whenever I get my bike back.

Increasing the oil level in the forks 5-10mm would also cure the dive w/o changing viscocity (less air to compress). So if the damping rate was better before the change, try a lighter oil....just a bit more of it.

Re: SV650 Front End Modifications vrs. GSXR Front End Upgrade Poll
If you are going to compare these two, why not also compare them to SV front end with cartridges and GSXR front end with cartridges?
