Please Help... 03 SV650 dies at idle

Hey Folks-

My SV has 12.5K miles and has run perfectly since I bought it six months ago. I've always warmed it to 95 before riding. Recently it started to die if I twist the throttle from idle unless I do it SUPER SLOWLY. Also it would die if I let the throttle fall off to idle. (I could keep it from dying )It did this at first until it warmed to about 175 or so. NOW it does it all the time. As I understand it this year's model has no fuel filter to change, is that so? Any ideas?

Many thanks!

OOOPS, Part II.
I meant to say, (I could keep it from dying by keeping a little throttle on and not letting it fall to idle).

Check your battery terminals. Make sure they're tight. Don't use a screw driver to tighten them. Use a 10mm socket.

As Nice said, check your idle adjustment. Should be around 1200rpm if I remember correctly. I don't know about the 2nd gen bikes (poor, ugly things), but on the first gen beauties, it's between the Vee on the left side of the frame.

Thank you, Gentlemen.
I will check both and get back to you.
I was under the impression that the 04 idle was set by the computer, not so?

It is a phillips head screw (with a white plastic washer behind it) on the left side of the engine in between the frame sections.

Re: Please Help... 03 SV650 dies at idle

Folks,
I admit I'm a newbie(new rider and first bike), but this was ridiculous, it was just the idle being set too low.
The screw was in plain sight, and very easy to adjust(after I put the bike back together from my checking the air filter and plugs...)
I just got in from a quick ride and it feels like a new bike.
I had spent the last week worried something was seriously wrong, oh well.
THANK YOU for all your help!

Dude, being a noob isn't a bad thing. As long as you learn from what you see, you're good.

How do you think we all started? Except for Nate. He was born from the exhaust can of a super motard.
