Re: Project - Gas Mileage contest
This won't work for me, as I get my best economy at 75-80mph...Can't do that very often, unless I'm hauling down the slab for extended periods.
60mpg at that speed is hard to beat on this bike.

Re: Project - Gas Mileage contest
I see high 30's to low 40's with my bike. I don't ride it for fuel economy. When I compare it to my truck it is so much better I don't care about squeaking out another 5mpg.

Re: Project - Gas Mileage contest
Turn the bike off at red lights would save some gas...
I have a red light on my home (not in a city) that I can see from a mile away - it the light is green, I know I won't make it, so I turn off my car and glide 1/2 mile to the red light, or "time" the light. |

Re: Project - Gas Mileage contest
Ok first report...
- using regular unleaded - 08 Stock SV650 with Yosh Slip on - finally hacked off "the shovel" ...thats got to be good for a few extra miles - achieved 292 Kms with 13 litres of gas OR 22.5 KPL - for those of you still living in the 70's thats 52.9 MPGI haven't really been trying to conserve too much but I was surprised it was this high. I assume that it is due to the majority of my Kms being highway commute. Jason |

Looks like I'm going to win no matter what my mileage is...

Re: Project - Gas Mileage contest
I'm in, just give me time to use a tank of gas in hyper-miling mode. I'm projecting at least 55 mpg. Will keep ya posted.

Re: Project - Gas Mileage contest
I got 52MPG on my stock 2002 SV. It has a huge National windscreen, but otherwise it is 100% stock with 2k miles on it. I doubt many carb'd SV's will do much better. My commute is ideal (not super fast or slow) for MPG.

Re: Project - Gas Mileage contest
Well, I just bought my bike right before memorial day, and have been keeping track of it's mileage anyway. I have filled up 4 times now. Here's my stats:
2006 SV650, total mileage right now: 666. }:-D Totally stock, don't even have a license plate on it yet! 1st tank = 65mpg!!! (lots of slow speed around the neighborhood) 2nd tank = 50 mpg (a couple commutes to work, some heavy wind) 3rd tank = 48 mpg (getting more used to the bike now, having some fun with the throttle) 4th tank = 56 mpg (kept my commutes at 65mph, light wind) Overall average = 55 mpg. I'm perfectly happy with that! This weekend, I am doing the 600 mile mainenance. I am curious to see how my mileage does after that. |
