Reccomendations for frame sliders? new handlebars?
Alright, I just bought a used 2003 sv650, I'm excited :-) The guy before me already replaced the back shock and installed valve emulators in the front, which is pretty sweet.
I want to get new handlebars and some frame sliders for it, can anyone recommend a brand/place to get them? Right now I'm looking at Suburban Machinary for new handlebars (Should I go type 1 or type 2...?): http://www.suburban-machinery.com/sv650.htm I havn't found much for frame sliders that look decent, I'd prefer silver instead of black. Thoughts? Oooh... and what about chin spoilers...? I might get one of those :-)

Re: Reccomendations for frame sliders? new handlebars?
I have SM type 1 bars. I like them alot. More aggressive than the naked bars, yet more comfy than the "S". They look good too.
As for frame sliders...motosliders is the way to go. They have a great reputation and outperform other brands, at least those available to the SV. I've "tested" my sliders twice. Once at 50-60 mph, the other at around 80 mph. Did their job great. In fact, my bike probably would have been totaled otherwise. Instead, I only have a couple hundred dollars of damage. Both crashes combined, I had broken mirrors, cracked right controls, bent rear brake pedal, scratched grab bars, missing bar ends, cracked gauge cover, and dented tank. - tank $250 off ebay - mirrors, $25 off forum - controls, $20 off ebay - brake pedal, $45 I think...oneidasuzuki - grab bar, $40 off forum - bar ends, $15 internet shop - gauge cover, $10 in plexiglass...or I could have spent $90 for a new OEM cover. So for two crashes (one street, one track) I had only about $400 in damage...motosliders did a great job. I've seen broken and severely bent sliders from other brands. For the SV, I trust motosliders most. Getting good sliders is worth a little aesthetics. |
