GSXR fork exchange options
I have an '03 SV 1000
I just found '03 GSXR 600 forks/tripples for a reasonable price. Are these forks interchangeable? If not, What years/models work. Do I have to get an aftermarket upper tripple to keep the high bars? Thanks for any help |

Re: GSXR fork exchange options
I believe you can keep wheel (not rotors) and axle. Yes you will need a custom top triple. You know 03 600 has conventional forks, right?

Re: GSXR fork exchange options
SV1000 is a 46mm conventional fork. GSXR is 45mm conventional. If you want to swap GSXR 600 forks you'll need triples from the donor bike too. Like junkie said, the wheel is the same. Calipers are too.

Re: GSXR fork exchange options
I don't want smaller conventional forks so I guess I'll keep looking.
What year/model GSXR fork is optimum for this bike? |

Re: GSXR fork exchange options
I would advise getting something with radial mount brakes, if for no reason other than aesthetics. That means 03+1000/04+600/750.
06+ 600/750 is longer than 04/05 by a significant amount, so it doesn't lower the front end. 06+ 600/750 will bolt up to your bike using forks/triples/axle/fender/calipers. You can reuse your stock front wheel and rotors. You'll need a custom top triple for bars, if there's a deal on here you might get one that even accepts your stock gauges. Note that there are no stock triples that bolt up and give you a normal steering lock. I put an 07 750 front end on my dad's SV1000, with SVRP riser clipons and R6 calipers (which bolted right up with no spacers etc). It looks and works great. He has an 05/06 GSXR1000 top triple which gives him a centered steering lock.

That would regain the OEM steering lock position. If you didn't want to alter anything you could use a 05-06 GSXR 1000 upper, but like mentioned earlier, it locks the steering in the center.
