Back in the very early days of my riding (read: 10 years ago) I bought a tire-marking pen for the heck of it because it was ridiculously dropped in price. Well, that was for a reason, the color didn´t stay the same for long (I didn´t do the whole side wall, btw). It was a red pen which turned rather quickly into something one could call a very dark pink. White might be different, but I read otherwise. Good luck with that project, it might look cool - I´m curious about the actual result. Ciao Jan |

Re: Bryce's k2 Naked Build
Yeah, Scratched the white walls bobber throw back. After doing some photoshopping, I despised the finished product. Soooo.... I came up with 2 completely different schemes for powder and paint.
Also, today I fixed my headlight bezel, swapped out front signals, and tore down the rear end. Also started it up and let her idle for a while since it had been like a month... I got a couple pics of the damage, get those up tom hopefully. -B |

Re: Bryce's k2 Naked Build
Well, It's been a busy year to date, and have had any time at all to work on the bike until this week. I got a some drag bars to replace the clubmans. They weren't comfortable for me. Bought a new battery. Tomorrow the plan is for pics and get the sawzall some action. The menu is exhaust and start the subframe. I'm debating on selling the bike to a buddy, and selling the SSSA set up as well. We'll see how this week goes.

Re: Bryce's k2 Naked Build
So I have chopped of the rear seat, but have a lot more work to do to clean it up. I also removed the can. I have been riding it as is, but hope to get the subframe off Monday, and get it off to a welder to get it the way I want. Then powder coat for subframe, SSSA and new wheel. Pics.

Re: Bryce's k2 Naked Build
It's been a while! I've had a long debate on whether I was going to sell the bike to a coworker, who's been housing the bike for me, or to finish what I have started.
I'm keeping the ol' gal, so here's what's going on this month: -5APR *VFR rim is getting dropped off for refinishing. - I am going to have it painted anthracite with a polished lip. ~This weekend * I am taking the tank off * Get the dents pulled * Sanded down to metal and clear coated - I like the idea of having the natural metal look. * Get tire mounted on VFR rim * Order - 520 sprockets and chain - Integrated tail light/ signals * Take off subframe - Get it to where it isn't a complete peice of **** ~ Next weekend * SSSA conversion * Subframe sand blasted powder coated Anthracite * Take off front rim - Refinished to match rear - New Tire That's it for now. We'll see how well I can keep on this schedule. Pics to come! |

Re: Bryce's k2 Naked Build
Rear wheel dropped off today. To polish the outer rim would have doubled the cost so now they are going to a semi gloss anthracite metallic. Should have it back Tuesday.
Jan, I know it's a tight schedule, I figured if I layed it out like it is, I might end up taking a month, as opposed to an entire season, if that makes sense? |

Re: Bryce's k2 Naked Build
Alright! 520 conversion stuff has been ordered. I ordered an integrated tail from an 07 ZX 6R, which should mount nicely under the saddle. Tomorrow tank and sub-frame coming off. Thursday they should get fixed along with front wheel getting dropped off for powder coat.
Hopefully I can get some momentum going. In other news, I moved today from Lincoln, to Omaha, NE. This finally ends my 7 year streak of commuting back and forth everyday. Woo hoo! |

Re: Bryce's k2 Naked Build
As a Lincoln resident that frequents Omaha...that commute sounds pretty bad to do every day. At least the speed limit is 75 almost all the way through now!

Re: Bryce's k2 Naked Build
Well, here's a quick no pic update:
So last week when I moved, first trip out of my apartment, my car got rear ended -$5200 in damage. My brother and I are both fine, and the other driver had insurace. That being said, I haven't been able to get work on my bike done this week. I got my sprockets in, hoping tail light comes in today. Haven't gotten my VFR wheel back yet either. Hoping to get subframe and tank off today, and get the SSSA cleaned up, still covered in muck from PO. Still shooting to have it done by End of Month. Pics hopefully later tonight of progress and parts. |
